FYI Louise Robey, John D. LeMay and Steven Monarque have all signed on to be part of Friday The 30th: Camp Blood which will celebrate 30 years of the Friday The 13th franchise. This is awesome news!!! Now all we need is for Chris Wiggins to sign on! : )
That's pretty sweet, I go to a lot of conventions and that's by far the best Friday the 13th lineup I've ever seen! Sadly I won't be able to go because I'll be away at school but I'm sure it's going to be a great time. I would love to meet the show's cast one day though. I own a Camp Crystal Lake Memories Book (it covers all the Friday films counting the series) and I did the math in my head and to have the people I haven't gotten yet to sign it, it would roughly cost 1000$ (yikes!) If anyone does go and is lucky enough to meet Roby, LeMay, and Monarque post photos!
So I finally got around to getting my own account, therefore, I will no longer be joygasm-1.
I'm so excited about this cast reunion. Its about time. I think I can make it, I have a year to plan and I will be done with school by August. So who is going to Texas?
I live in Houston, and this is by far the best news I've had in a LONG time! I was disappointed to hear that Robey was going to be so far away at the Chiller Expo in New Jersey, but now I don't mind at all. I'll be there for sure!
I was wondering if you all heard about the big fiasco with the Friday the 13th cast reunion and if Louise Robey and Steven Monarque are actually still going to this thing?
Has anyone heard of any alternate plans to hold another cast reunion?
Nope, unfortunately it's done for. I have my doubts that Robey, Steve, or John ever actually signed on to do this... I believe that they are holding a separate convention in New Jersey, but I don't think it will involve this series, just the feature films.
This is just a shame... I live in Houston and was looking forward to meeting the cast, especially Steve Monarque, for over a year. I hope the bastard that cheated everyone does some serious time in prison for fraud.
I hate con artists! Get it... con, as in convention! I am so funny!
This may come as some good news. John D. LeMay has recently signed on to be part of this year's Monster-Mania Convention in Hunt Valley, Maryland June 3-5.
Yup, I'll be there on the 4th! I'm only going to meet John. I'm not really a fan of the Friday The 13th movies, so there isn't anyone else there that I'm dying to meet, but it's still definitely worth it. To my knowledge, John hasn't attended many conventions before. I will also be meeting Lesleh Donaldson, who played Lyla in the episode, "The Great Montarro" at next month's Saturday Nightmares convention in NJ.
Yesterday was awesome! I got to meet and talk with John for several minutes. He's a very friendly guy and he asked just as many questions about us as we did of him. He was so suprised that I knew so much about the series lol. He asked us what our favorite episodes were, and he seemed impressed that we knew all of the titles to our favorite episodes. He said that I would be suprised at the amount of people who can't even name their favorite episodes. I figured it's probably because most of the people there were bigger fans of the movies and were only casual fans of the series. He couldn't believe that we were there just to see him lol. He actually asked me questions about certain guest stars that he couldn't remember by name. At one point he took out his ipad that he had with him and set up on his table so that he could play episodes. My brother requested "Doctor Jack" so he played that one. He mentioned that he enjoys watching the show more now than he use to because he said that he always felt awkward seeing himself on screen. His wife of 10 years has also just started to really get into the show. It was certainly surreal to be talking with someone that I literally grew up watching. It was a trip : ) Hopefully he had a great experience and decides to attend more convention in the future.
It sounds like you had an awesome time! Did you get his autograph as well? Did Steve Monarque ever come up during your conversation? I can never seem to find a lot of information regarding him.
So, did John give either of you guys a real reason as to why he left the show? I have always wondered why he, or any actor, would want to leave steady work. I simply can't believe any of the reasons given online; after all, they could have been written by anybody!
You can't believe he wanted a career in movies? That's the goal of most actors, genius.
Got to love internet tough guys like this clown. He comes off like a pretentious punk in this thread. It doesn't make a lot of sense to leave a show for movies without an established film career first, genius. In most cases it makes sense to stay in the lime light while growing your film career. That's what successful former television stars and now movie stars like George Clooney and Steve Carell did. And what actors like Luke Perry and David Caruso didn't do.
John has always stated that he loved working on the show and that he learned a lot, but as an actor he wanted to stretch out and pursue other roles. I did get an autograph from him, which was really cool. Steve didn't come up in the conversation, but I know that he recently directed a short film called 'Free Country' that he debuted at the New York International Film Festival a couple months ago.
Can you post a photo of your autograph online? I am a collector and I would love to see one of these rare signatures!
Did he tell you what his worst experience on the show was? Everybody always loves to ask actors about their favorite moments, but I find it much more interesting to learn about what they hated!
Tyler, I don't have a scanner, but I'll see if I can find a photo of his signature elsewhere for you. John didn't talk about his worst experience, but I do know from reading interviews from the cast/crew over the years that filming of the series was often difficult. Sleeping all day and working all through the night for 3 years. I remember one interview where John stated that he had to have a doctor come on set and give him B12 shots when he fell ill during filming. He said they couldn't stop because time was money. Also, Steve Monarque stated in a 2000 interview, "I remember one morning, it was about 5 a.m. Chris (Wiggins) was sleeping in his chair outside and frost was forming on his beard. You had to be there on the set to understand and experience some of the harsh working conditions."
He told me Chris Wiggins is retired. You can find out about Louise Robey on her Facebook page, but I think she is working on a new album and possibly a TV show.
This series isn't part of the Friday 13th franchise or series of movies, they just used that name in the title it was a bait and switch, the only thing they had in common was Frank Mancuso Jr. he was the executive producer of both the series and the film's sequels. I think the actor that played Ryan was in one of the later films but he wasn't called Ryan, and some of the crew worked on both the films and television series.
The television series "Poltergeist" had absolutely nothing to do with the films of the same name either, again, another bait and switch, and it worked again.
Have you seen the series, because it had nothing to do with those silly movies with Jason killing a bunch of stupid teenagers that no one ever felt sorry for when he killed them.
People didn't go to the "Friday the 13th" films to see Jason get killed they went to see him kill people. pretty much the same goes for Freddy Krueger and Mike Myers.
I enjoyed this series when it was on the air, and I was very happy that it had nothing to do with the films.
There for a while Robey had dropped off the face of the Earth, but I saw she had a website a few years back.
I seem to recall either one of the actors or it may have been Mr. Mancuso saying in an interview that they just wanted to capitalize on the popularity of the name, and it worked. I remember some people being upset it didn't have anything to do with the film, but they all kept watching the series.
It also didn't hurt, that they cast a young woman that a lot of men and women found very attractive. Since some people were upset that it wasn't based or related to the films. Robey helped to keep them watching, and they mainly all came back week after week.
Movies will make you famous; Television will make you rich; But theatre will make you good.

Uh, there was no film slasher named Mike Myers.

The character in the film "Halloween" is named Michael "Mike" Myers, in the first film the character was credited as The Shape, in all films and other media associated with the "Halloween" film franchise he's called Michael Myers or again Mike for short.
The fourth film is entitled "Halloween: The Return of Michael Myers" I guess they weren't talking about the slasher named Michael, Mike or Mikey for short, since the other character that returned in the fourth film was Dr. Loomis played by Donald Pleasance, Jamie Lee Curtis declined to reprise her role in the 4th film.
They also used the name in the titles of the 5th and 6th films, "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers" and the 6th "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers".
FYI, Freddy Krueger's full name is Frederick Charles "Freddy" Krueger and he's not called Frederick Krueger, he's called Freddy one of the short forms for Frederick the other being Fred and even Rick. The name Freddy is also used in title for three films.

Moron Mike is short for Michael, and Freddy Krueger was never referred to as Frederick but that was his name.
Jackwagon, I can call him Mike and anyone else named Michael, Mike just as easily as I can call anyone named Frederick ,Freddy. It's the same name, and they mena the same thing.
Just like I can call a fool a fool or an idiot the second they open their mouth or right something foolish like you, it removes all doubt. Jar Jar Binks.

I don't give a *beep* what it is short for! He has never been referred to in any of the films as "Mike," END OF STORY!

"Right" something, huh? Try write. It's funny that in an attempt to appear intelligent and point out foolishness, you can't even spell the word "write" correctly. Sadder still, you can't even get your quotes right. Come back when you've grown some balls, lightweight.

Jar Jar Binks you're the one on here trying to correct someone. You're an idiot for believing you're right and that you can actually stop someone from calling someone named Michael, Mike Myers.
The brave and the bold who hide behind the internet.
I would like to see you try and correct someone calling someone Mike instead of Michael or calling a you a fool or an idiot in person, thinking you're going to change their mind about you being a fool.
Because you have convinced me you definitely are one. We reform others unconsciously when we walk uprightly, you may want to stand upright and stop dragging your knuckles. Long live Mike Myers

Freddy Krueger was never referred to as Frederick in any films but that was his name
That's a weak argument. First of all, Krueger used his NICKNAME as a name (Freddy). Obviously, Frederick is his given name. Myers, on the other hand, was known only by his given name (Michael) as his name.
Freddy Krueger was never referred to as Frederick in any of his films but that was his name?
Michael Myers WAS referred to as Michael in all of the films and that was his name. You're an idiot. With the way you start your post, you make it sound as if Michael was a nickname just as Freddy was a nickname. MICHAEL is the given name, genius, and he used it! You're talking about a horror movie character being referred to in a movie (Krueger) by his nickname, saying because he used a nickname and we all know what his real name is, that another character who used his GIVEN name in a movie, his GIVEN name, that his name is Mike? No. His name is Michael.
Krueger had a nickname and used it (Freddy). Michael Myers, on the other hand, was always Michael Myers, not Mike. You're a loser.

One it's not weak argument, because it's a fact, jar jar binks. It was his name, and doesn't matter if he was ever referred to it in the films it's the name that was in the credits.
Many characters on television and in films are called by only their characters' last name, sometimes their first names or a nick name.
On the series "Columbo" his first name was Frank, he was never called by his first name but that was his name.
The character was always referred to as Columbo or he answered to Lieutenant, his badge ID had his name on it as Frank Columbo and it was shown from time to time with the name Frank Columbo but no one ever called him Frank, but his name was Frank Columbo.
On "Gilligan's Island" the Skipper was always called the Skipper but his name was Jonas Grumby, no one ever called him by his first or last name.
