DTV movies based on old Disney Afternoon shows viable?

Tad Stones (co-creator of Darkwing Duck and Chip 'N' Dale Rescue Rangers and director of the Hellboy animated movies) has said in several interviews and podcast and stuff, that now that Disney has stopped making "cheapquels" to their animated movies, that should instead make direct-to-video movies continuing the old Disney Afternoon shows, which the people who watched the shows as children could watch with their own children. I wonder if such films would commercially viable, and if Disney Animation big shots (like Roy Disney, John Lasseter, Don Hahn, and others) would even want to continue the legacy of the Disney Afternoon. What do you Guys think?

I would hope so. The Disney Afternoon was awsome for a kid and it seems Disney has just abandoned that wealth of talent (voices, animators, writers). If the show DVDs sell decent, than why not continue the Disney Afternoon shows? I would like to know how they are not commercially viable. I assume they dont do that because they say that idea, and similar, wouldn't make money. I think it would make money.

By the way, where did you get your information from? Thanks

"I would buy a new DuckTales movie if Alan Young was doing Scrooge and if they didn't make it CGI, they made it the classic 2D animation."

I'm sure AY would come back. Too bad the guys who played Baloo in the Jungle Book and in Talespin are dead now. I would love it if they would make a spin off movie of Talespin but would only see it if they got an actor who actually sounded like Baloo. John Goodman playing the role in JB2 just didn't sound right.

"Rambo: I could have killed 'em all, I could kill you. In town you're the law, out here it's me. Don't push it. Don't push it or I'll give you a war you won't believe. Let it go. Let it go."

Yeah Alan Young would do it. To me he is scrooge McDuck. two voice actor's from Ducktales have died but hopefully they can get someone else who sounds like them.

It'll be good to see Darkwing duck again. It's a shame Launchpad McQuack not around now.
