I Just Wish That Ridge...
...would DIE already. Bill was absolutely right when he demanded to know why Brooke hadn't shut Ridge down immediately.

shareThey should have brought TK in as a new character and killed Ridge off.
shareYou know, it is possible to have an actor play a new character without killing an existing character
shareOf course, but that way there's no chance for a recast. IMO, Ridge shouldn't have been brought back. As long as he is still alive there is always a chance to get a recast. Every time somebody goes away for long periods of time and comes back their character is ruined. Look at what they did to Taylor, Macy, Thomas, Rick, and Ridge.
shareOf course there's a chance for a recast. The writers can retcon it with some bullsh*t excuse as to why he's not really dead. Soaps bring back dead people all the time. As long as the show exists, any character is subject to being brought back at any time at the discretion of the writers.
shareAbsolutely. On this show, dead is not dead. Taylor 'twice' and had at least one open casket funeral, yet was still written to be alive.
shareRidge was at the time of the recast perhaps the most integral character to the show. It was no surprise they decided to recast rather than write him out. They should have just found someone more like Ronn Moss (a paper bag?). While I'm sure TK is a fine actor, he is almost the polar opposite of RM and I think that is why everyone finds it so jarring, because it is like a completely new person, not just a continuation and upgrade of the old.

Exactly why they should have brought him on as a new character. Many ways to explore.
