where did they get this new actor playing Ridge? He looks like some old drunk that they found under a bridge. How could they go to the sleek, perfect looking Ron Moss to THIS?? Poor casting choice.
Thorsten Kaye has been on the soap scene for a little over 20 years going back to One Life To Live, Port Charles and All My Children and I for one can say, he's not one of my favorite soap actors.
Yeah I stopped watching years back, then recently rejoined B&B, looking for an alternative to "Young & Restless" since that show went to seed. I remembered Ridge as the thin, majestic looking, Ron Moss, who with his falcon-like, chiselled features, was the perfect man to play someone like Ridge Forrester. And he was in a love triangle with two blonde women; Brooke Logan, and Caroline Spencer. Now I return to find Ridge looking bloated and unkempt, like some old drunk that was found living under the L.A. freeway with a bottle of Thunderbird in his hand. The actress who played Caroline was there, but she was now a different character; a frumpy lesbian in a relationship with another frumpy lesbian!! And there is a NEW girl named Caroline, but she is like 23 years old! Thankfully Kathryn Kelly Lang is still there, unchanged as Brooke, or else I might not know i was watching the B&B. But hey; I was watching WAAY back when Thorn was played by Clayton Norcross, who was one of the most handsome men alive..but this current Ridge; I'm sorry, but what were they thinking?
The old Caroline was the aunt of the new Caroline (which is why they have the same name). Young Caroline's mother was the twin of her Aunt (which is why it's the same actress). The original Caroline died.
I didn't love Thorsten Kaye on All My Children, but I think he's okay in this role.
Recasts are always hard though, especially for iconic characters. You have to get an actor to KIND OF impersonate the previous actor, but also bring something original to the role.
I just wish the writing was more consistent for him.
I didn't like him on AMC because I felt like the producers and writers wanted the audience to applaud and his acting from different shows hasn't changed in so many years.
Well stated, abajasds. His acting, which is wooden and unlikable, on AMC is exactly as it is on B&B. There's no difference in his portrayals of two very different characters. He's always one note, monotone in a way. Not to mention irritatingly smug.
He was forced as the new lead of AMC. That show really took a bad turn when they had him, Cameron Mathison, Rebecca Budig and Alicia Minshew take up most of the screen time.
I heartily agree Falconer...I find him hard to look at. He is poorly groomed and I can almost tell he needs a good scrubbing. He's a bad recast because he has a foreign accent (which makes no sense since he grew up in LA.) Moss wasn't a great actor but he looked the part.
I like TK as an actor, but the only time that I liked him as Ridge is when he was with Katie and Caroline. I don't think that the recast would have been too much of an acceptance if they got somebody that had the looks close to RM. I'm not saying that they had to get a look alike, but somebody that had the good looks and suaveness of the character. I will always say that TK would have been successful if they had brought him on as a different character.
