You do realize that even if they did that, they could always bring them back at their convenience by retconning it so that they're not really dead, right?

Maybe Wyatt decides to kill them and then turns the gun on himself.
Maybe Hope comes home and poisons them.
Maybe Quinn takes out Liam and Steffy and then accidentally does Wyatt in.
Maybe Ivy locks them in a barn and lights it on fire.
Maybe Thorne runs them over in his car.
Maybe Pam bakes a bad batch of lemon bars.
Maybe Liam literally bores the other two to death with his whining and then passes out.
