Question about Liam's demand

When he insisted that Steffy needed to put their relationship before everything else, well, wasn't that as unrealistic as Hope insisting he have nothing to do Steffy during that love triangle?
I wasn't watching back then, but I read some comments about that being one of the reasons he and Hope kept splitting up; because no matter what, he'd never tell Steffy to buzz off. She'd always show up or he'd always go back to sniffing around her.

I am a Steam fan but Liam is right and I am firmly behind him on this one. Steffy has been placating Wyatt and jumping through hoops to please Eric and Quinn by living her life the way they want her to. It's gone on long enough and it has to stop. She chose Liam verbally then physically she moved out sending the wrong message to both brothers. She shouldn't have done that. The real Steffy is no pushover and would've told them all a long time ago to fock off. She needs to put her foot down with Wyatt, take control of her life back from Eric and Quinn, and understand how deeply affected Liam was by what happened to him. That psychopath Quinn has terrorized Liam and still has an agenda except now she added her merry band of misfits, Wyatt and Eric. Even Wyatt seemed to finally realize that the 3 of them ganging up against Liam is Just.Plain.Wrong. I totally get Liam's frustration and he has a right to express himself to the woman he loves.

To your question about it being unrealistic, no. Their relationship has to come first. And about Hope, she was just an immature frigid child who kept breaking up with Liam for silly reasons but a Hope fan may see it differently. I am a Steffy fan.

If Liam doesn't get over his obsession with Quinn, he's going to push Steffy away. I'm glad Wyatt if finally facing reality. I never wanted him and Steffy together in the first place. Steffy and Liam balance each other out the way Bill and Katie did when they were at their best.
I still think insisting she drop everything, no matter how temporary, to ease his insecurities, is a huge turn off for a girl who's supposed to be as spirited as Steffy. She needs her lap dog to comfort her, not a ball and chain to drag her down.

Steffy needs comforting?? 
No she doesn't.

1. Liam isn't obsessed
2. He doesn't need to get over anything

Liam is the victim, nutzo is the criminal.
Liam has been on the receiving end of her abuse and many crimes for far too long. He needs to get as far away from Quinn as possible and if he needs to leave Steffy to do it, so be it.

Personally, I was never on the Steam train but I do like Liam and he deserves better than Steffy. I know you weren't watching back then but Steffy was the rabid bitch that wormed her way into Liam's life and stopped AT NOTHING to tear he and Hope apart.

Bell has tried to whitewash that but it doesn't change anything for most viewers that know the real deal. This has been the problem with Bell and his writing for a while now and he just keeps repeating the same nonsense.

Look at the Thomas and Caroline rape no rape story. He basically destroyed Caroline to prop Thomas and got so much backlash from that he doesn't know what to do with her now so he wrote her off. Bell needs to get it together, ratings are falling and they were just knocked out of second place.

I agree. Saying Liam is obsessed with the person who kidnapped him is a bit bizarre. If Quinn were backing off and not still trying to screw with his life maybe he could move on, but until then...

For me, I feel like the very second he had the opportunity to have her charged formkidnapping him, and he made a conscious decision not to pursue charges, he lost the right to continually complain about it. What does he want to happen?! He wants her to be punished but then doesn't allow the law to pursue those charges. He can't have it both ways and he made his decision. He needs to get over it because the only reason she is still in their lives and not in a jail cell is because of him.

reply

Oh please, we know that's because the story didn't allow for it. Make no mistake if Bell wanted it to go the other way, it would have. Liam is completely justified here.

reply

Of course we know the story didn't allow for it. But aren't we talking about the show? We all know Liam is a character, and in real life any sane person would have had her prosecuted, but in the context of this show, which is all we have to go on, the character of Liam, as he was written (as stupid as it was) DIDN'T pursue charges and thus, in my opinion only, lost the right to complain that she wasn't held accountable.
We can't really argue on what someone should have/ would have done if this were the real world, because it isn't and if Liam is written this way, then as far as the show goes, that is what Liam decided even if that writing was completely absurd.

reply

Liam was told by the lawyers that they would have a difficult time trying to make the charges stick. Also his brother was begging him to have mercy on Quinn. To say that Liam just decided he didn't want her punished is not correct.

reply

Ok, I suppose it is a little simplistic and flippant to say he just decided not to pursue charges, but the reality is, as complex as the situation was, as much as he was being pulled in different ways- by Wyatt, by Steffy, by his Lawyers- at the end of the day, despite how difficult it would be to pursue, he still made the decision to let her off the hook. The decision wasn't made for him. It would have been hard to prove but he still could have tried. It would have upset Wyatt but I am sure eventually he would have understood Liam's decision had he gone down that path. But Liam and Liam alone chose to let her off, so again, only in my opinion, he has noone to blame but himself.
Don't get me wrong. I think it is pathetic that Quinn and Co are still trying to manipulate Steffy like she is some kind of prize, and I think it is equally as pathetic that Wyatt encourages it by not putting a stop to such obvious manipulations (I was glad to see him come to some sort of self-resolution the other day).
Sure Liam, be upset that they are still manipulating things, but to constantly bring up how she kidnapped him when he didn't even attempt to bring her to justice just smacks of wanting to have your cake and eat it too.

reply

I think that if the lawyer had said that it was a slam dunk to get her convicted, he would have said yes. But to have them telling him that she had some kind of reasonable explanation for why she took him to her cabin to "save" him made it seem like he would go through all of this time and effort and she would get off anyway. The way it was written was stupid but I never took it as Liam making a decision to let her off.

reply

Liam made the decision to drop the charges. Carter should have told him that in exchange for doing that, Quinn would have to get professional help. A judge would have upheld that, but the writers didn't want it that way. Liam is too much of a wimp to fight for what he wants. He just makes other people change their lives to accommodate him.

The writers could have had Carter do that but they also could have had him tell him that she should be prosecuted to the full extent, any judge would have gone for that. But they didn't, they had Carter tell him he had no choice.
