I watched the show from the beginning all the way until around 1999 when it was cancelled in my country and then again I watched it from 2004 to 2014 (when it was again broadcasted) and I loved again ridge with brooke and the addition of hope was a new breathe of life to the series but then all seemed to fall apart.
first to abandon ship was susan.....then ron and now kim. from 2012 to 2014 disaster occurred and really this was the final blow for me.

They had no choice. The actors left; thus forcing them to recast. When a character is needed, he's needed. Ideally actors should be forced to sign lifetime contracts so they can never leave, thus rendering recasting unnecessary.

The writers decide who they do and do not need, not you. As a viewer, your job is not to ask questions; it's to watch the material as it is presented to you.

B&B is the second most popular soap in the country and the most popular soap in the world. It's not getting cancelled any time soon. The next soap to hit the chopping block will probably be Days, and GH after that, leaving B&B as one of only two soaps in the country. CBS will have the soap monopoly and won't cancel either of them, because they'll be the only two US soaps in existence.
When someone can no longer afford something, budget cuts have to be made. That's the way it works. Money doesn't fall out of the sky.

How many soaps here have been cancelled entirely, and the rest have been forced to take major budget cuts from their respective networks, considering they don't see soaps in general as money makers anymore. You can't continue paying your actors the same salary, or give them raises when the network tells you they are slashing your production budgets. It's simple math. Either these actors understand and do what is necessary to keep their jobs (because we all know acting is a fickle profession anyway), or they cut their losses and move on. But, even with a pay cut, the actors on these shows are probably still making more in a pay period than some of us make in a year.

Sorry, I disagree. Ronn Moss and Kim Matula did not make this show. While it took me some time to adjust to Thorsten Kaye, he brings a certain amount of masculinity to Ridge that wasn't as prevalent with Ronn Moss in the role. As far as Hope, she mostly just got on my nerves, and the triangle between her, Liam, Steffy and later Wyatt just got old.
