Two points about the nudity.

In the scene where Rob Lowe's towel falls off, why would he be wearing a jockstrap under that, He should have completely naked, especially when his girlfriend came and saw him, wouldn't most guys want the hot girl you like so much to see see you totally nude. Second Ms. McGill should have shown some nudity, it would have been a great shock to the audience that that a female audult would to that to male teens.

Lowe wasn't nude under the towel because they wanted an R rating. Back then full frontal male nudity almost automatically got you an X. But I agree with your second point--the scene with Ms. McGill was puzzling as nothing was shown. Maybe the actress didn't want to do a nude scene.

I don't believe it had anything to do with the actress refusing to do it, she had only recently made the film "James Joyce's Women" in which she appears totally nude and masturbating. More likely the director bottled it and thought a large part of the audience wouldn't appreciate seeing the older woman seducing Lowe's character too graphically.

I think that having Ms. McGill naked, and then having a much hotter younger Cynthia Gibb naked later on would have nullified Ms. McGills nakedness, therefore making her look bad and old and flabby and well...just not good.

So, I think rather than go for the possible softy of showing Ms. McGill, they saved the goods for Cynthia Gibb, which in my opinion, is much more pleasing to the eye.

Seeing Ms. McGills smelly butt flaps in those shorts was enough for me.

Not correct, Porky's has full frontal male nudity and it got an R rating in 1982

Back then there was no PG-13 rating, so movies went from PG to R depending on Language & Nudity. This explains why 16 Candles is rated PG even though it has bad language and nudity.

reply

True--Porky's DID have male full frontal but it was VERY brief. Basically if you blinked u missed it. In "Youngblood" Lowe was out of that towel for quite a while. No way would that have gotten an R rating if he were nude.

"16 Candles" really surprised me that it got a PG. The nudity was brief but the language was pretty strong. On the other hand "The Breakfast Club" just had language and THAT got an R!

16 Candles and Porky's both were released before MPAA's addition of PG-13 Rating

It's perfectly natural to cover yourself up a bit when going out of the locker room and besides that was the first time he saw her.
