Did Dean deserve to be allowed back on the team after he quit?
I'm sure other fans of the movie will hate me for this, but I think Coach Chadwick should have stuck to his guns and not let Dean back on the team for the final game of the playoffs against Thunder Bay. Dean was basically a brand new member of the team, as he didn't join the Mustangs until the playoffs. Yet he already had that "I can quit and come back anytime I want" attitude. I agreed with the fact that Kelly was absolutely furious with Dean after he quit. He did a huge favor for Dean by offering to do double duty on the farm so Dean could go play for the Mustangs. Like Kelly said in the movie, he didn't do double duty just so Dean could wimp out and quit the team. When Kelly attended the final game as a spectator, I was surprised when he questioned the fact that Coach Chadwick didn't play Dean for much of the game. When Dean whined that Chadwick was so unfair, Kelly set him straight by calling Chadwick the best coach in the league. Also Kelly said that Dean had absolutely no excuse for quitting the team. Kelly obviously had a lot of respect for Coach Chadwick. Therefore I think that Kelly should have known that Dean was lucky he even got to dress for the game, and Chadwick wasn't just going to let him off the hook like nothing happened.
