Medals

Can't help but wonder about the medals on Jones' (Michael Caine) chest. Any insight??

reply

Well not a medal expert but he was meant to be a Royal Navy veteran of the Korean war so he would have a medal from the British government for Korea and a UN one as well (Korea was a UN operation).
He might have some sort of long service or good conduct medal as well?
Thanks to MR CAMERON we don't(the British) have aircraft carriers at the moment but Britain invented a lot of the technology used on carriers.

Any other British people think our new carrier should be called ARK ROYAL?
There should always be an ARK ROYAL I think.

I believe they are, in order:

Korea Medal
UN Korea Medal
General Service Medal
Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (Army)

I thought the middle color of the fourth medal was maroon, not blue, thus my interpretation as the Army version. Besides, not a lot of naval stuff for the Brits to do in Korea, while their Centurion tanks were excellent with their more powerful engines enabling their tanks to easily climb around the hilly country.
