Who thinks the Score sounds a bit like John Carpenter?

I always thought the music score sounds a bit John Carpenter-like even in the Big Trouble in Little China score.

Actually, it sounds a lot like Johnathan Elias's score for CHILDREN OF THE CORN, which makes sense as he scored both films.
