Katrina (Grace Jones) does not have to talk. Her role is to be the scary head Vampiress! All she has to do is rip the necksand suck tup the blood of hot, young, white jocks like A.J. That scene made this movie!! I would have loved to see Katrina eat a few more cute jocks on that sweet bed of hers.

Grace jones (katrina) didn't have to say a word---she did it all with body langage. She was superb in this! I couldn't c any1 else in this role.

I think she was scarier NOT speaking...She reacted to everyone around her, including her lackie's plea to go to Las Vegas...

It's much creepier with her silence, such as when that girl begs for her life and gets 'offed'.

‘Six inches is perfectly adequate; more is vulgar!' (Prime of Miss Jean Brodie Re: An open window).

The comment is quite funny, isn't it? The movie was made in 1960 (called 'The Prime of Miss Jean Broadie') and Maggie Smith plays a passionate teacher in Edinborough set in the late 30's. When a student goes to open the window in class, she makes that remark.

If the point was to have an androgynous vampire then they succeeded by not making her talk.

In 1986, the whole world knew who Grace Jones was. She was famous for her androgyny, so there was no reason for the filmmakers to try to make it appear so by making her not talk. The reason she didn't get any lines was to make her more foreboding. And it worked.

I was born more than a decade before you, so I understand. I am somewhat surprised though that none of the older people whom you asked has heard of her. I'm from one of the Balkan countries, and back in the 80's I used to hear her from time to time on our radio stations and see her on tv and in magazines. There was even a singer or two over here who copied her aesthetic. But, yeah, saying "the whole world knew" was a hyperbole, because it's not like her fame was beatlesque and I'm sure some of my aunts and uncles have never heard of her, even though my parents, I'm pretty sure, have.

I was born in 1986 and know full well who Grace Jones is, and that she is not a man. You tried to troll, and failed.

I've always known who Grace Jones was. They even made fun of her on In Living Color! Lol. I just re-watched this movie last night and she looks NOTHING like a man. Maybe her facial features are a little hard, but I can't imagine a man having THAT body. Very feminine.

reply

Very feminine body? Are you *beep* crazy? No, her body is not feminine at all. I am someone didn't know who Grace Jones was when I watched this, and her body was what had me convinced it was a man playing the Vamp.
