am i dirty or is this movie about puberty/sex?

I can't help think this movie is really about the boy arriving at sexual maturity. Early on in the film the old lady specifically calls him pre-pubescent. But then we clearly see the hair under his arms when he is in bed, and we know that there must be "changes" taking place. All the men in the film except his father succumb to the lascivious come-ons of his little sister. Then he has to fight the 'evil' with a spear that shoots white stuff. I mean...really???

I think you might have something, even though it's difficult to take this film seriously, any artform which has a Court World vs. Green World battle deals with sexual awakenings/maturity and specific symbolism that lies therein. Look at slasher flicks - many sex vs. innocence undertones. All horror movies appeal to the most primal animal instincts inside of us, appeal to our fear.

Agreed. Often the first to go are the couple that is experimenting, or actually have sex.

This is true in Troll.

It's a "coming of age" movie, so in a sense, it is about puberty.

I think you are reading too much into it, it's just about a troll trying to take over the world. The only nudity in this movie except a little when he turned Julia Louis-Dreyfus's character into a wood nymph when she's running around partially nude in the forest. However, I kind of understand about the white lazers coming out of the spear, could be interpreted as sexual. I really did like this movie.

Yeah, there's definitely some sexual undertones throughout the film. Surprised nobody's commented on Eunice's pink mushroom friend, who bears more than a passing resemblance to a penis. Speaking of which, next to the turntable in Sonny Bono's apartment there's a foot tall male fertility idol with a foot and a half long erection, as well as a painting over his couch of a nude woman.

I agree - you maybe know that Noah Hathaway posed for some very questionable shots about this time; not pornographic but definitely sexual. I think the lad was exploited by some very rough players in Hollywood.

Because sonny bonos character was some pervy swinger guy! Of course he'd have stuff like that around. Notice how everyone's apartments fit the characters they are playing?? Yeah, exactly. You guys just want to see sex where there is none.

I'm not really sure if the movie was intended to be an allegory about puberty, but I think any movie that stars an attractive 14yo boy is probably going to have that element, whether it means to or not.
