Did anyone else give the Trick or Treat DVD a spin for Halloween 2008?
I sure did. It's STILL awesome!

I did too, it is a Halloween tradition for me since when I first saw it on Pay Per View on Halloween night 1987. Since then, I always put aside two hours every Halloween to watch it, with the exception of Halloween 1996, the only time I missed watching it.
I however, still am an 80's man, because I don't have the dvd, I still watch my old VHS copy of it when I taped it off of Showtime in April 1988!!! VHS still satisfies me. The 80's were a great decade!

I watched it this year, as well. The trip served as a reminder of how much of a big deal the movie was for me 20+ years ago and how dismal the current DVD releases are. While the film wasn't a monumental hit, everyone I knew at the time saw it and dug it, so why hasn't anyone capitalized on that fanbase and devoted the time and effort to a proper re-issue? Oh well, I've been bitching about that for the past six years.
shareAnchorbay (a cult DVD releasing company) were all set to release a special 20th Anniversary Edition of Trick or Treat back in 2006 but had to cancel it when they encountered problems with the film's music licensing. Talk about a major bummer.

Michael Felsher (the guy who put the Gate, Pumpkinhead, Monster Squad and Night of the Creeps Special Edition DVDs together) reported to me in an e-mail that he has been trying to resolve the Trick or Treat music dispute for some time. Hopefully it will all be resolved soon.
I NEED a Special Edition Trick or Treat DVD on my shelf.
