"I really am that fast" makes no sense

This is supposed to be the year 1916 or so, right?

Movies were still played in a primitive way. Someone plays music 'live' and tries to match it to the action, while the projector - even if automatic - plays the film reels at some 'random speed'.

As I recall, there were no standards for 'playing speed' back in the day, these early days of movie and 'filmmaking' were pretty crude and chaotic, certainly 'wild' in many ways. Film might have been shot at a certain speed, then played in a theater or 'church', as this movie shows us, at a very different speed.

We have all seen these silent movies with people moving way too fast because no one could standardize the 'playing speed' or even 'filming speed', so it was all over the place.

Now, Ned being so confident that this German guy that watched movies made way before 1916, presumably in Germany, saw the movie reels being played at the exact speed they were shot. Why is that?

How can he be so confident? Even with very famous movies, like Charlie Chaplin's stuff or the Harold Lloyd (I can never understand the double L here.. isn't one L enough? How is this supposed to be pronounced and why?)'s stuff, you can still see how the speed was not exactly 'stable and standardized'.

How the F can Ned be so certain WHAT speed this German guy saw his earlier movies played at? It makes no sense to say 'I really am that fast', when he can't know how fast he appeared on the screen the young version of the German guy was watching.

Another thing that bugs me (amidst about 300 others) about this travesty of a wannabe-comedy movie that can't decide what tone to take (from super cartoonish (singing and talking animals and bushes, invisible 'swordsmen'??) to exploding churches and murdering people at the drop of a hat (so now you have to be serious because of the horrible fate of these poor villagers - it doesn't gel)..

..is that El Guapo just shoots his own man and NO ONE questions that.

Everyone is immediately in a celebratory mood instantly and things go as planned. I won't even mention how his real age (40) was downgraded to a YET ANOTHER masonic number (sigh..not worth repeating here).

Think about it, though; you join some 'cool gang', you get a horse to ride on, you make friends and have fun pillaging and menacing innocent villagers, then return to base camp to booze and have fun. Suddenly your respected, admired and charismatic gang leader just MURDERS one of your friends, maybe your best friend. What? How would you feel? Celebratory??

I would say 'at the drop of a hat', but he was supposed to shoot at the hat, and the hat never dropped separately until he was dead, but that would be too corny.

Why doesn't anyone protest how casually he murders his OWN MEN? Even if these are evil-hearted monsters that gladly terrify innocent villagers, one of you suddenly dying SHOULD be at least thought-provoking; what if you are next? What if your best friend is next? This definitely would make at least SOMEONE question El Quapo and his sudden murder lust of his OWN GODDAMN MEN!

But NO ONE protests.. NO ONE questions.. everything just goes on as if nothing happened. Will there be a funeral? Will someone think of revenge? Will someone at least ask WHY? There was literally NO REASON to do it, and he did it anyway. There's a villain, then there's a super a-hole dik of a villain. Holy cow, how can anyone work for him after this?

So he lies to his men about his age, he murders the men without any cause, just like that.. then tries to lure them into some verbal traps so he can be angry at them (the plethora-scene.. though the henchman should've rather been honest about it and said he doesn't know what a plethora is, and asked what it is, etc.. ).

HOW DOES ANYONE want to work for this guy??

It makes no sense.
