always wondered what happened to it , did they leave it sunk? did the Klingons want it back ?

according to the book Kirk remarks on it being sunk and thinking it was a good ship

Probably went into the "Look how many times Kirk saved Earth" Museum, because matter/antimatter explosions.

Disassembled by Scotty in the original scripted prologue of ST6. This information was to be useful later in defeating the conspirators' cloaked ship, but scrapped for time/budget. So the Bounty rests comfortably at the bottom of SF Bay.
