Favorite funny moments
When the movie begins, it looks like it is going to be a regular Star Trek film. Klingons demanding Kirk be extradited, Saavik getting serious about David's death, that probe on it's way to Earth (which I thought to be very similar to what V'Ger did)
However when they travel in time the film then becomes very funny, and it was great comedy, not the sad attempts that Superman 3 tried. Here are some of my favorite comedy moments from Star Trek IV:
That guy who almost hit Kirk with his car and calling him a dumbass, and Kirk saying "Well a double dumbass on you"
Kirk saying "they are still using money"
When Kirk and Spock are about to go to the Antique Store, Kirk tells the rest of the crew to spread out while waiting, and they really don't know how to act as they are standing on the sidewalk
When the antique guy offers Kirk $100 for his glasses, Kirk says "Is that a lot"
Kirk and Spock getting on the bus, then get off just a few seconds later, and Spock asking "What did they mean by exact change"
Spock mentioning to Kirk how he noticed his language has changed since they arrived, Kirk says you need to use profanity in this era in order to gain attention
When Spock gave the Vulcan pinch to that guy playing his radio too loud on the bus
Chekov and Uhura asking those people where the Nuclear Vessels are, and the way that cop was just staring at them
Kirk goes to look at Spock when they are in front of the aquarium that shows the whales underwater, only to realize he is actually in the water with the whales, and the expressions on his face
That lady saying maybe the whales are singing/talking to that man, then they show Spock in the water with the whales
Spock attempting to use colorful metaphors by saying "the hell" many times in a row. "the hell they aren't" or "the hell I can't"
Kirk suggesting Spock no longer use the colorful metaphors
Kirk telling Gillian that Spock took too much "LDS" in the 60's
The way Spock acted the entire time in the truck
When things got weird in the truck, Spock asks "time for another colorful metaphor?"
Kirk's facial reaction to drinking beer for the first time in the restaurant
The way Scotty was attempting to use the 1986 computer at the factory, he tried talking to it, then talking to the mouse
When Chekov gets interrogated after he gets caught on that ship by the military
All of Bones' reactions at the hospital, saying this was the Dark Ages, Spanish Inquisition, Medieval
When Kirk asks Spock where the hell the power was that he promised, Spock says "just one damn minute Admiral" Kirk then stares at him for a second
I really didn't see any funny moments that I considered to be bad comedy. I laughed so much during this film, and it was a great story too. This was the kind of Star Trek movie that non Star Trek fans could enjoy, just like First Contact was.
