I could be wrong but isn't the end theme the same music used for the theme of the animated Lord of the Rings film done by Ralph Bashki in 1978?

Same composer: Leonard Rosenman. Lots of composers do that. The Klingon theme Goldsmith wrote for TMP is straight from The Wind and the Lion. Some of TWOK is taken from James Horner's earlier Battle Beyond the Stars score and then ends up in later movies (like Cocoon).

I love this movie but the main theme was terribe and didn't fit a Star Trek movie at all. Sounded more like the score for a christmas comedy.
