The Voyage Home

This being a Star Trek story, commentary warning humanity of its belligerent behaviour is never far behind. Point in case, the crew must travel back in time because the whales were hunted down to extinction centuries ago. In a brief but poignant scene, Spock, ever the proponent of logic, comments the completely illogical goal of killing members of a species until it no longer exists. While the film does not bombard viewers with the environmental message, it is unmistakably there. Spend two hours with an amazingly talented cast, see their characters like fish out of water in modern day United States (circa 1986), and spare a thought about animal extinction: all in a day’s work for Star Trek. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/features/star-trek-retrospective/
