Wil Wheaton plays a character called Geordie in this film

And a year later, in Star Trek: The Next Generation, he plays Wesley Crusher, who appears with a character called Geordi! Coincidence, or not?

His name in this is Gordon, nickname Gordie.

I guess the name on Stark Trek was pronounced similarly to Gordie's from Stand By Me...

"Geordie" does sound close to "Georgie" though, a certain Stephen King character.

Geordie LaForge was pronounced like a J. Jump
Gordie/Gordon is pronounced with a hard G. Golf
