Of course it's innaccurate and the plot, outlandish...

...but it's also one of those great, non-cynical 80's movies, that thrilled kids into believing they could do whatever they set their hearts on and that dreaming leads to learning, inventing and discovery; learning is cool and engineers and scientists are the rock stars of space. We need a new batch of films like this for kids, where the sky isn't their only limit, when it comes to dreaming.

I know as a kid loved this movie. I wanted to go to Space Camp so bad! :)

I call movies like this "Kid Power" movies. Where adult presence is limited or nonexistent, and the kids prevail over whatever challenge they face.

Hear, hear, Tetra123! Movies like these taught kids to dream big and aim high. Look, we all know there was a lot of junk made in the 80s too, but even the junk had a "can do, positive message" that kids entertainemnt--and entertainment in general--is missing these days.

Knock, knock. Who's there? Your butt that's about to be kicked!

Agreed! Very lacking today! This movie inspired me immensely as a child!
