I'm working in Sao Paulo for a year and I`m so goddamn homesick for NYC. And they showed Something Wild on cable, and I watched it for the 100th time in my life and loved it every bit as much. If they follow it up with "Desperately Seeking Susan" and "After Hours", I think I'll die.

I'm not from NYC, but visit once in a while, and I found myself nostalgic for the pre-Giuliani cleaned up NYC (also pre-9-11) that I saw in so many films from the 80s like Desperately Seeking Susan and She's Gotta Have It, to name just two. Not to mentions 70s classics like Dog Day Afternoon and The Taking Of Pelham 1-2-3. But watching this film tonight was like a time capsule to the 80s, when I was in high school. Those opening shots made me nostalgic and in the cinematography, the grit and grime of the old NYC really came across for me.
