I could've sworn Joel Schumacher claimed in the DVD commentary that they had met during Lost Boys and he thought Jason Patric had a crush on her, obviously he was mistaken.. I was surprised to see they had made this together a year earlier.

Actually: On the Special edition DVD of the Lost Boys, Jason Patrick was alredy cast and Joel was looking for someone to play Star the way he had scene the character, like a pixie with short blonde hair. But Jason had worked with Jamie on stage and in Solarbabies and he suggested her to Joel. And thats how Jamie came to be Star.

I just listened to the commentary and you're partly right. He never said that they had met during Lost Boys, but he did say that he thought Jason had a huge crush on her. Schumacher said that Jason was the one who kept recommending Jami for the role of Star. But he didn't mention Solarbabies at all.
