Closing Credits read: 1985 not 1986

Should be changed to 1985 on IMDB.

Not really. While it was probably completed in 1985, it was not released until late in 1986. That's not unusual either. The first Airport movie for example was released in 1970 yet the credits show it was completed in 1969.

It should technically be what is listed in the credits. I assume that's when the final sound mix/final video edit etc has been completed.
