Anyone else notice Eddy (Iron Maiden's mascot), at 1:12:45 in the black & white picture in back of the black guy? It's the poster that reads, "Angel Dust Kills" on the bottom. Same pic used on the Number of the Beast cover!
I noticed that last night! How they used Eddie from The Number of the Beast!
Just thought about it a little more. If this movie is set around 1978-1979 then the use of Eddie from The Number of the beast is a movie mistake since that album didn't come out til 1982.
Yeah, but the picture didn't have any Iron Maiden wording on it, although yeah, that picture probably wasn't painted until the early 80's, just before the album came out. Maybe the director liked the artwork and wanted it in background, or perhaps it was just an idea from one of the set designers...
Just watched this great film. Picked it because it had Gary Oldman in it. First film I saw Oldman in was Romeo is Bleeding and he was brilliant. Oldman seems to have a lot of music connections. Tom Waits wrote a song about that film. Gave it the same name. The song isn't in the film of course because he wrote it after the film was released.
Getting back on topic, I happened to see an ex-lead guitarist from Iron Maiden one night. Steve something. He was in a group called "The Northern Lights". Think there was a drimmer, base and vocalist. They were playing at a workingmans club up in the hills behind Blackpool. There were only about 50 people there. Average age about 60. We arrived early and noticed in the gear. There were about four guitars on their stands. One had two necks. I thought there were going to be lots of lead guitarists but there was only one and did he put everything into it. He even went around and jammed on the laminex tables. Got back home and my mate's son said he was in Iron Maiden when they played at Long Beach in front of, like, 150,000 people. He dug out a video and, sure enough, it was him.
For the record, I gave this film 10/10. I haven't done that for a long time but I think it deserves it.
The video you are talking about is 'Live after death' and the show in longbeach was 53,000 people over 3 or 4 nights. All of the members are still in the band..
