did ne1's family go through the war there?

my family went through it. my mom, aunt, n grandma migrated over here during that time, because of the war. i found out, after i watched the movie, that my other aunt was locked in the church wen archbishop romero was shot. i was nearly cryin wen my grandma told me about the hardships they had to face before they came here. well, im thankfull that my family survived it.

i wrote this to find out if anyone had suffered through this, or if they now anyone in there family who did.

my mom fled the country as well, her mom had died by the time she left, she came here and left my brother and i with my aunt. and then she paid for us to come here. i didnt know that she was actually running from the country when she left and i saw this movie and asked her about it and she told me, its cool to know that she survived.

my family went through the war too. my mom was pregnant with me by the time the war was ending and my parents say they used to sleep under a bunch of mattresses for protection from bullets. one time my dad said he was driving down the street in San Salvador when he saw a truck full of bodies and there was a trail of blood behind the truck. And another time a drunk soldier was walking in the back of our house and he said he was gonna shoot my mom but the other one told him that she was only a civilian. We didnt come to the US until 1998 though. I wanna see the movie. Ive seen "Romero" though.

my mom left the country before the war, but we had to BACK once during the civil war...her mother was on her way out and she wanted to see her once more before she died...

we saw the checkpoints armed by basically kids in uniform carrying assault rifles bigger than they were...we would wake up every morning to cannonfire (bear in mind you can hear a cannon from 7 miles away)...

but what i took away from the 'trip' was this...even in the middle of that war, there were places, tesoro beach comes to mind, that were untouched by the war...and with a little money, and some luck, you could see how beautiful that country was and could be.
