Apparently, the writer hates it
He envisioned this as a "Fargo"-esque movie, but ZAZ turned it into a broad, wacky farce. Danny and Bette hated it as well (I don't know if they still do). Judge has hinted at not getting how truly funny it was at first, but eventually came around - yet he also prefers a "Fargo"-like take. Even Helen Slater gives off cold-ish vibes whenever an interviewer brings up RP.
I don't agree with them, but I love the honesty.
