Helena playing piano
Was that really her playing? I believe she does play in real life...just wondering if any of that was actually her. If not, anyone know where I could find any of her playing? Thanks :-)

sharelonglivethequeen, look at her hands in closeup on the keys and then at the end when she's taking book down from shelf. The hands look the same. She has a very aristocratic and upper-crust background. Probably did take piano lessons.
sharei know she took lessons. that wasn't my question. no need to be rude.
sharelonglivethequeen, what's wrong with you? Not being rude, just answering your question and very well, I think. What part of my reply could you possibly think was rude?
shareI think it is her (and no, deliaw wasn't rude- just direct) I am sure it is all of them playing/singing. ;)
I like that, it adds authenticity. ;)
WOW... Unbelievable...
shareDid anyone notice the name STEINWAL on the piano she's playing? I'm rewatching the film after several years and this jumped out at me, which it's never done before. Did STEINWAY want too much money to have their named used???
"In my case, self-absorption is completely justified."
She does play piano (at least from interviews she says she does), but it's obvious the piano music is dubbed in post-pro, either by herself or by someone else, a studio musician, or what have you. One of my piano teachers has done a few movie soundtracks where the characters are playing piano but it's really him :)
Also in some of the scenes, her hands are cut off, I assume on purpose. Beethoven's sonatas are fairly easy to play so she probably did play a lot of the intros to the scenes before they commence into dialogue... if that makes sense... I've done that before for plays and stuff, play a bit then stop and the music comes out thru the speakers for the remainder of the scene whilst the action occurs...
they would cast someone specifically with hands similar to hers to play so that's no proof, the only proof I have is of interviews where she talks about playing piano so I assume that's one of her skills and that she can play a few sonatas and they used those in the movie because she'd know how to mimic the fingering accurately or close to accurately.
I noticed that when she did play in one scene, near the end when she's having the final discussion with charlotte, that she was playing around a bit and that sounded like it wasn't messed with in post pro and you could tell she is trained based on her legato.
That's just my 2 cents about the matter.
