'My Foolish Behavior'
What, specifically, is she referring to? And the gossip-- what would people gossip about?

The foolish behavior and the gossip is her fainting. It was an event in the movie to show us while she is prone to weakness, she is strong and proud, as well as different from other women of her time. I would say this is one of the shuttle things he loved about her. In short, she was ashamed and embarrassed for showing a weakness of a typical woman of her time.
