Andy was insufferable but Benny was a monster?

I'm not stating Benny was a saint, but Andie was nothing but antagonistic to the point of psychotic. The first time we see Benny, Andie's friend attacks her without cause leaving Andie to bear the brunt of Benny's anger. Yeah, Benny had a face on but it looks to be her normal expression on all occasions. Instead of just ignoring Benny, she decided to escalate the situation.

Girls like Benny are in their own world. They don't go out of their way to bully other girls unless there is a cause. She may seem flighty but I don't think she was stupid. Especially when it comes to boys. I have feeling she knew outright or subconsciously that Steff liked Andie.

I think they had a long standing feud with Benny and her friends. Andie’s friend was just that way: she was always on guard from Benny and wasn’t about to put up with any of her crap. I disagree with Benny only being rude if provoked. She certainly took great pleasure in being nasty to everyone, especially the students with a lower economical status. Plus she knew Steff wanted to nail Andy so that didn’t help 🤷‍♀️

How do you know that?

When we first see Benny she is reacting to Andy’s friend. The friend who started a fight with her. The most she did in the scene was make a face and say “oh look” to her friends. She didn’t go out of her way to speak or antagonize Andy or Andy’s friend.

If she was supposed to be the bully, it wasn’t filmed that way. Andy was the bully. In the first scene with Steff, it was Andy again who took it down the road of evil. She didn’t have to react that way. Again, Andy was the bully. When Andy confronted Blane in the hallway, she was the one who got violent. Andy was the bully.

So what was Hughes trying to say about Andy? Considering his public statements, I don’t think he saw how everything truly played out even though he filmed it. It was all subconscious.

Um, well Blaine basically ghosted Andie days before prom and then tried to lie and say someone else asked him and he forgot. He humiliated her. I think I’d be a bit pissed too. Did we even watch the same movie? Lol

There was clearly some sort of division between the wealthy and poor students. How about at the party Blaine and Andie attended? Andie walks past that girl and she made a crack about Andie’s clothes. “This isn’t a dinner party, honey”. Who was the bully then?

I'm not saying Blaine, Steff and Benny are right. I'm saying Andie took it a step further.

Blaine was wrong and what he did was horrible. But that doesn't give Andie the permission to screech at him in the school hall and physically push him around. That was crazy.

The girl at the party was just some girl. The real hint was that she KNEW Andy. Which meant she had run-ins with her before and Andy gave as good as she got. At least Andy controlled her loud mouth throughout that scene. One of the very few times she did.
