Perfume

I haven't seen this film, but wondered about the name of The Frog.
In the credits here, it gives his name as "The Frog" Jean-Baptiste. In the novel "Perfume: A Story of a Murderer" by P. Suskind, the main character is called Jean-Baptiste Grenouille (grenouille is the French for frog).
Is this just a coincidence?
Any light shed on the matter would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Just a coincidence. Captain Red refers to Jean-Baptiste as "The Frog" because it was a common slang term that Englishmen used to refer to Frenchmen in those days. Frogs= The French

In this movie Jean Baptiste's last name is Marfilat(Sic). Though the movie and the book came out about the same time, so you never know.
Does Polanski read german? It probably wasn't translated for a little while. I don't remember seeing it in english until 87.
