During her scrappy performance why are the three negress' wearing maid outfits? i dont understand.

1 - Demi's singing was horrific...I've heard cats f@*k with more harmony. I could crack my knuckles with more rhythm.
2 - I'm guessing that they were playing up the "she really needs the money angle", and thus didn't have a real band or backup singers? Besides, they looked like they were dressed more like waitresses than maids, and if you noticed, the males in her "band" had matching pink vests and bowties. Either way, it was funky to be sho.

I'm not saying to be mean; obviously she looks amazing now...Was Demi heavy in this movie or was it just her baggy clothes? She looks really big in the scene with Hoops walking along the beach...She didn't seem overweight in About Last Night or St. Elmo's Fire....but in BOD dare I say more than chunky?

"No, Ma, that was a little girl selling Girl Scout toilets"

Nah, I would venture to say she wasn't the least bit chunky in this movie, nor have I ever seen her look what anyone would deem "chunky".

You have to remember, this was the 80's and she was wearing some of those baggy 80's style jackets with the double-breasted flaps, baggy oversized sweaters and such, in this movie. Not to mention, they were on Nantucket which can be a bit breezy even though it is summer. Also, her character was somewhat of a Bohemian/musician-type, and she also wore some of those gunny-sack dresses, braids in her hair, etc...so nothing that was really form-fitting.

Also remember: this movie was PRE-enhancement for Demi, so her top shelf was almost non-existent (if you remember her topless in About Last Night), and so proportionally she probably appeared a bit bigger in this movie. But there are plenty of pics of Demi from this timeframe (early-mid 1986, her Estevez year)..and she looks great.

But CHUNKY? Not a chance...
