Why change the Title
Why would they change the title of the film before releasing it to DVD? It seems to me that this dooms the film's release to languish in obscurity because most people looking for the movie will never find it.

sharei dont know what they shanged it too on dvd, but in Australia it was always titled, from a whisper to a scream on the 1988 vhs, and the 2001 DVD
shareYup, this movie's original name was From a Whisper to a Scream. The studio that released it in the US wanted a simpler name so they changed it to The Offspring. Everywhere else it went by the original name. Who knows why they changed it back. Probably because the original title sounds cooler and since the movie wasn't really a hit they decided to try something different.
shareGood thing I came here because I have been looking for this movie at Netflix for awhile and couldn't find it. I just assumed it was never released on DVD. They do have it under this name though. They should have kept the other name for the American release to make things easier for people looking for it.

My response:
I completely agree. But that's not the only issue, the title is misleading because it only can be applied to the first story and not the others.

Good point about the misleading title, Filmbuff1974.
I absolutely hate when titles are changed, especially because – as was the case here – I wind up buying this film twice: first on DVD as "Whisper to a Scream," then later on VHS as "The Offspring" when I didn't read the description on the box close enough. I can't say I cared that much for this film in either format, though I've upgraded this from 5/10 to 6/10 after my second viewing.
