This is being shown now on the THIS channel along with a whole slew of Christmas flicks---always liked the music of this play, and I even had a cassette of the whole Nutcracker Suite years (which I don't have anymore,dang it.)

A few years later, and THIS TV is still showing it. It's not the best way to see it, as it's shown in 4:3 ratio, so the dancers frequently dance out of the frame. Also, THIS TV appears to put its commercial breaks according to a strict timing system, irrespective of what's going on onscreen. So the Dance of the Flutes (a charming interpretation with a Pierrot and two female Harlequins), and the Grand Pas de Deux, are both interrupted by seven dancing rabbits advertising toilet paper.  Well, at least the breaks are short, and apart from breaking the mood are not that bad. I'm happy at least that someone is showing it every year.
