Well I'd merely say you're absolutely right.

Awe Skinny, you got blood all over my trousers!
Jeez I'm real sorry Frank.

reply

I'm nodding in mere agreement.

True!

His performance was good. I also liked him in Jean Jaques-Annaud's other films, Quest for Fire and Enemy at the Gates. This is the first time I've seen The Name of the Rose and I enjoyed it.

reply

He's very good with Jacques-Annaud. Not so good with lesser directors!

--Jack, you have debauched my sloth!

reply

This movie shows just what a great character actor he is. I liked him in Beauty and the Beast as well.

reply

I siply loved him in this film! And I also loved him in Hellboy.

It is a pity that Hollywood hardly offers him good parts just because he`s... a little bit on the ugly side. The only good parte he gets are whe the characters are as ugly as or uglier than him, or when the characters are completely covered in make up!

reply

He is one of my favorite actors, and his performance in this was amazing.

reply

I agree - he was excellent in 'Quest for Fire' as well.

reply

Ron is great in just about everything. He's the kind of guy that fans don't speak of a lot, but whom casting companies, writer, and directors salivate over.

How do we know it's not a fake? It looks like a fake to me.

Dear Drystyx:

Ron Perlman was fantastic!

reply

You got it right!
Made for the part!
Blowing the flames!
Who else could've pulled it off?

reply

He's spot on with the description of the character in the novel.

Ron Perlman is always great. he is the Boris Karlov of modern movies. If you need an ugly face or monster in your movie, cast him and your set
It still eludes me how a guy that ugly can be that charismatic. I even think he was the greatest actor in this movie, better then Connery or Slater.
Everytime I wach this film when he helps the guards blow the fire of his own stake, it makes me laugh and sad at the same time, he dont diserve to die like this.

What a nice post and I agree with every word! I love Boris Karloff too. I haven't seen another actor play ugly and disgusting as well as Perlman as the poor doomed Salvatore in this film.

Ron is always great hehe

In fact it's his most memorable (serious) performance. He mixes up languages like a pro, looks amazingly creepy (make up effects are great!) and obviously completely enjoys his role the whole time.
He should've been nominated for this role. I'm not kidding. If you love Perlman, this is where you see how great of an actor he really is.

Agreed!
