were dalcanites real?

I don't know how to spell it but were dalcinites a real order? And what was the english translation of "the rallying cry of the dalcinites"?

reply

Dulcinites, or Dulcinians, were indeed a real religious movement that tried to reform the Catholic Church toward the end of the 13th century. Followers of Fra Dolcino, they were an off-shoot of Gherardo Segarelli's (aka Gherardino Segalello) Apostolic Brethren.

The rallying cry of the Apostolic Brethren was "penitenzia agitem, appropinquavit enim regnum caelorum" which means "act in penance that the Kingdom of Heaven is nigh."

Once the poor, uneducated people started following, the cry was shortened to "penitenzia agitem" (do penance!) which in turn was converted to "penitenziagitem" --the cry of the Dulcinites.
