'Mrs. Little Up the Amazon'?

The plot summary for Mosquito Coast reminds me a little of a documentary film - "Mrs Little, Up the Amazon" - I saw about 20 years ago on The Discovery Channel or The Learning Channel. I think there may have been a book also. It was the story of a family that goes into the Amazon jungle to homestead, live off the land, and escape the real world. They were three - a partially blind woman, her husband, and the woman's young adult daughter from a previous marriage. It was the husband's idea to retreat from the world, and as often happens in these situations, problems and tragedy ensue. (Personally, with apologies to any survivors, I think the husband was an idiot). The husband and daughter die, and the woman, who I think was also hearing impaired as well as blind, had to survive on her own and hope for rescue.
