What's the deal?

I've loaned this film out to several friends, and each of them come back with it thinking I gave it to them as a joke and that there is no way in hell anyone could like this movie. Am I missing something? This movie is amazing! What is it that people are failing to see? Anyone else getting this reaction from friends?

I just saw it. Finally. And I'm in love with it. A lot of people don't like movies that don't hand them the central plot on a silver platter. I understand that for some people, a certain movie just isn't their cup of tea, but from a lot of the postings about this film, it sounds like everyone is just whining because it's a Harrison Ford movie that actually challenges you to think. I've always loved Ford, but now I love him even more after seeing this. This proves that he is capable of being much more than Dr. Jones, but not many people will ever see that.

It could be because, in this movie, Ford doesn't fit their type-cast of him. They are accustomed to him portraying a certain type of role, so this film, more so than probably any other, betrays certain expectations of a "Harrison Ford" movie.

I know of similar situations of Lost in Translation regarding Bill Murray.
