Relation to The Poisonwood Bible?

I haven't read Paul Therox's book, but I was struck at how similar the movie was to Kingsolver's story about a missionary trying to spread Christianity and tame the "savages" of Africa while destroying his family. Anyone know of any connections between the two authors?

I was just thinking the same thing. I've seen Masquito Coast a VERY long time ago. I remember liking the movie, and I've also read The Poisonwood Bible. They seem to be very similar stories.
