The film "The Beach" is very much like this film. People escape away to an exotic location and do their best to make it the perfect world, and at some point they succeed, but then it all goes downhill and they have to leave..

This was very good, The Beach is garbage.

I think that "The beach" is just another film for teenagers, not very original.
"The Mosquito coast", on the other hand, is kinda strange and boring film but more original, and it makes you think.
