Harrison Ford was really good in this

One of his best performances I have seen to date.

Peter Weir is an exceptional director, very rarely do you get the feel of who is directing a movie.

In Weir's movies he is stamped all over it.

Much like you know your watching a Tarantino film or a Kubrick or Hitchcock film etc etc.

In this film and "Witness," Harrison Ford does an incredible job. I think Peter Weir deserves a lot of credit.

Based on the remarkable films they have made together, I wish Harrison and Peter Weir would get together for another project.

Undoubtably, to quote another -

Harrison Ford really shows how he can take the character of any person. Doing a borderline insane, opinionated, politically charged scientist is not an easy role!

Other memorable performances include Witness, Star Wars IV, V, VI (Of Course!), The Fugitive, and the Indiana Jones series.

I agree, absolutely, that Ford was terrific here. I think it's his best performance by a good margin and should have gotten him an Oscar. I personally didn't hate his character though he certainly had more than his share of flaws. It wasn't until his little "paradise" was destroyed that he truly went over the deep end. I remember when his wife tried to console him after the disaster and he replied something to the effect that "I'm glad." We know he's a goner at that point, moving away from eccentric and into madness. At every turn through this journey, Ford remains utterly mesmerizing. It's too bad he's decided to forgo more challenging fare.

Cheerio!

Perhaps his last good role.

I like him in Frantic as well. "I am an American, and i AM crazy!"

If he did the role now the oscars would be all over it "Yeah you're getting on a bit. Doing a serious role...have an oscar that you should have gotten 25 years ago..."

Ala Michael Caine in Cider House Rules (if only they'd have waited another year as he was fantastic in The Quiet American!)
