a missle in Fat Boy?

I've seen this movie countless times, read the book three times...
This is one of my favorite movies ever.
I love the character of Allie Fox.
But..in the movie, when Fat Boy blows up, there is a part that looks like a missle launches out of Fat Boy.
What the hell was that supposed to be?

I was kinda wondering that myself... But they said there was a gas leak or something or maybe a chemical reaction? Not really sure, just a guess though. :-/

Probably just some bit of pyrotechnic gone awry. Maybe it's a tank of the ammonia gas shooting out after being ignited?

Yes, of course it was a tank of gas. Missile. Sheesh.

A rocket/missile is a pressurised tank being propelled by escaping gas. The thing you saw in the movie was a pressurised tank being propelled by escaping gas. That is more than likely why you thought they looked similar. Possibly.
