I'm not a fan, but he was very good in this. He seemed fully engaged and inspired. Most of his other performances, he's got a kind of smirk on his face - he's aloof, like he's "too hip for the room" so to speak.

Don't get me wrong: aloof can work great, if you're William Hurt. Hurt's got a streak of vulnerability in him, but Ford - not so much.

I agree. He's never come close in any other role, before or since. I think he became too much the "movie-star" actor. Too many blockbuster, have-to-be likable roles.
