How would you create everything from scratch?

What things would you do first?

My suggestion:
Get water and food. Cultivate others.
Make stone and wood tools and weapons, ropes
Make a shelter.
Make fire.

Make pottery
Make an oven and try to get metals from minerals
Make glass
Make a sailing boat
Electricity with a dynamo or from a battery with natural acids?
Make important chemicals, maybe nitric acid, powder...

What else?

How many years would it take to get a computer if you had the knowledge?

nobody?

Building a computer from scratch? It would probably resemble those earlier monstrosities with vaccuum tubes. Use those computers to build better ones, and so goes the cycle again. I think it could be done in under a year if certain materials could be found intact...but blowing the glass and all...truly from scratch? Maybe if the survivors banded together on a worldwide crash project it could be done in a few years.

To build a computer you would first need to build a fab and that would require tens of thousands of people and several billion hours, you would also need some sort of dedicated hydroelectric dam producing several gigawatts to power it. You'd end up just talking yourself out of building a computer and maybe settling for a toy train made from wood.

Opinions are just onions with pi in them.

A computer haha I've never seen this movie (about too) but if they build a PC from scratch I would consider this scifi

I knew someone who made a lot of money with a flea circus and he started from scratch.

we have survival shows now that tell us they would have all died out there if starting from scratch, there's no way he could have repaired that boat motor either

but this movie is an amazing thing, they seriously must have had a team of survivalists/engineers putting together that set and making it believable, you don't see these things in any other movie really, I mean they're really doing it

the most important thing is fire, they have plastic bags, bottles, it's the jungle so there's water, fish, fruit, but that's a lot of people to care for, the bugs might be detrimental also, they would probably need to kill a pig or large game a couple times a month too to keep the calories up, shelter, water, fire, would be good, food would be very tough, but he was right "you cut yourself on a can of tuna, you die", he was a crazy dude taking those kids out there, but it almost worked

oh and I build computers all the time, I'm always trying to make my own run more efficient, quieter, speedier, cooler, etc., the humidity out there seems would destroy it in no time I'd imagine, the only computer you could make would look like something on gilligans island, I mean he could probably build a power supply of some sort I guess, a blinking light, a punch card counting system or something haha, he could build a radio though and a sound powered telephone
