This stunk.

Wow, that is one atrocious movie.

Just finished it. Seriously? Peter Weir? What the Hell was that!? The writing was awful. The acting (sans a few moments) was too hammy. The story, itself, was completely out there, illogical, & poorly executed. Sure, the cinematography, sets, locales, make-up, score ... all nice. But it didn't mater because there wasn't 2 minutes that went by where I wasn't saying 'that's stupid', 'no one would do that', 'she wouldn't say that', etc.. Sure, Harrison Ford's character goes kinda crazy. But no one would say or do the things they do in response to him throughout the entire ordeal (once they get to the jungle). I just didn't believe a cumulative 5 minutes of this entire movie from beginning to end.

Anyone agree?

Yep. Saw it when it came out many years ago and haven't seen it since. Don't plan to either.

I don't have an opinion. The word "opinion" implies the possibility I'm wrong.

I disagree. The ice machine is impossible and many other parts exaggerated, but luckily it doesn't harm the overall movie much. These are only important to the most superficial layer of the film, but there is plenty of depth beneath to enjoy. I think the characters are genuine and the ideas in the film very interesting. If you want a dumbed down or realistic jungle survival story though you should definitely avoid this.

I wish that i would asked for my money back when I saw in the theater years ago and then invested that money into the stock market to have helped me versus getting wasted.
