did simone really like cathy??(heavy spoilers inside)

i mean liked her as in the songs???

everyone i talk with seems to be sure of it-but i am not. she never confesses-she says of course "i like her" with too much determination when confronted, and then the next question she answers repulsively-"what songs" and eventually just argues-"she needs me george." now babies need mothers too,friends need friends too. we never know whether she was really going to hurt george,we never know why she cried!!!

i think thats the way it was meant to be??we are to be mesmerized by monalisa strangeness??we are never supposed to know whether simone was cold and lonely or warm towards george? but it seems everyone is first rate at mystery solving,just like george!(he always quickly get what or how bad things will happen-but never gets the motive,nor the culprit.)

and can anyone explain what was the significance of white horse neighing there when george was waiting for the ladies?and the dwarfs too,resembling thomas's story??that is one,perhaps the most important symbolization i didnot get.
