I can't get rid the feeling that the whole movie was made up by Hoskins and Coltraine as one of his books.

Honestly speaking I did not understand the end. I think it was quite confusing. What was all about?

What was so confusing? She was a lesbian and he fell in love with her, she used him to get what she wanted and he was heart broken.
