I agree. It has the feel of those cheesy horror and sci-fi flix of the 50's

I agree...Im tired of people slamming this movie...It was great entertainment especially liked Hendershot/Pat Higel

Not sure about that, especially if these bits of trivia are accurate:

Well, at least he could laugh about it. I will admit that I thought this must have been intentionally comic book campy, especially watching talented veteran Pat Hingle going so far over the top that I said to myself, "King has to be winking at us." But apparently, he didn't know what he was doing.
