shareNO. Just no.
shareI'm all for a remake
shareI think there is a remake called Trucks.
shareNo, it doesn't need it. It's fine the way it is.
I'm sick to death of remakes.
"Rock is dead! Long live Paper and Scissors!"
No, it doesn't need it. It's fine the way it is.
Actually, this is one movie that COULD benefit from a re-make.
Stupid films like Robocop & Total Recall had their remake along with dozens of others, but they didn't warrant it.
This film, OTOH, could benefit from technological improvements, and NOT use AC/DC as their sole source for a soundtrack. More trucks riding on their own, more destruction, more eerie senses that the world is taken over by every machine. More blood & guts.
The only thing is... unlike other remakes: You HAVE to keep it rated-R. Never PG-13 any classic movie that previously was an "R". It's an insult to the audience.
I wouldn't touch it unless Stephen King himself would want to redo it again with him writing and directing as he did in the first one.
shareThey need to find a real director
Get Darabont back he seems to do best with King material
You don't have to stand tall, but you have to stand up!
This is one of my all time favorite guilty pleasure movies, since I was really young (Just turned 29). I would love to see a remake and if you google it there has been talk of it happening (though no new updates in a year or two) but I have a feeling it would be *beep* CGI effects, geared toward teenagers, and probably rated PG-13. This movie would only work if it kept the R rating, was mostly practical effects, and had some decent actors and a good director. I would love to hear Darabont planning a reboot, he definitely does King material the best but I doubt that will ever happen sadly. King himself absolutely hates this movie, and when asked why he never directed again is quoted as saying "just watch Maximum Overdrive". I wish he'd lighten up a little, it was his first time ever directing, it was the 80's, and cocaine is a helluva drug! I dont care what anyone says, this movie is a cult classic!
