I trained with the M240 on something similar to that. Though it had two mounting posts. They rolled it up to the shooting range, locked the guns in place and we just shot at old cars until we were sufficiently qualified.
That other guy seems to have it nailed down it served to just move anything around that needed moving.
It kind of confuses the "rules" of the film because that m60 is just locked into place with a pin or a bolt or whatever. There's no mechanical parts connecting the gun to the rest of the car and nothing that is powered that would enable it to turn the gun or fire it. If the gun can turn and fire without any mechanics or power, then the trucks certainly wouldn't need fuel, and random objects on the ground could theoretically throw themselves around.
